Attendance

The college follows the current rules of the Madras University. Attendance Register and continuous internal assessment is compulsorily implemented. 75% of attendance is compulsory for each semester in each course. The students will not be allowed to write the examination if they do not have the minimum attendance.

Condonation of Attendance:
Details of condonation of attendance for the students who do not have required attendance:
  • In a Semester, the student who holds 65% of attendance must pay Rs. 250/- as condonation fee and receive the permission orders to write the exam.
  • Those who hold 50% and above, or less than 65% must pay Rs. 250/- as condonation fee and receive the permission orders to write the exam in the next semester only.
  • Those who hold less than 50% of attendance, after the completion of their period of study, must get re-admitted to complete the required attendance to write the exam in the same semester.
Valuation
  • Examinations
    Semester Examinations are conducted in the following manner.
    • Undergraduates I, III and V - first week of November (Regular and Arrear exams included)
    • Postgraduates I and III - first week of November (Regular and Arrear exams included)
    • Undergraduates II, IV and VI - third week of April (Regular and Arrear exams included)
    • Postgraduates II and IV - third week of April (Regular and Arrear exams included)
  • Minimum pass mark - External Valuation
    • Pass Mark for Undergraduates - 30/75
    • Pass Mark for Postgraduates - 38/75
Students must gain the minimum pass mark mentioned in the external valuation to secure a pass in the subject. The minimum pass mark for the internal valuation is 08.
External Valuation Method
  • A student can request a photocopy of her answer book within seven days of the announcement of the result.
  •  The student must submit a requisition letter to the Principal, with a fee of Rs. 100/- to procure the photocopy of the answer book.
Re-valuation of the answer book
  • Within a week, after the results are announced, only the final year undergraduates are eligible to apply for re-valuation and request the photocopy of the answer book.
  • The student has to pay Rs.250/- as re-valuation fee for each paper along with the application form available in the college. 3. I and II year undergraduate students must pay Rs.100/- to receive a photocopy of their answer books.
Malpractice
If any student indulges in malpractice, while writing the Semester exams, she is not permitted to write the consecutive exams. Moreover, any form of malpractice will be recorded in the student’s Conduct Certificate.
  • A student must complete her study under the respective stream within five years. Or else, she is not permitted to write the exam after the expiry of the five year period.
Internal Valuation
  • All subject papers possess internal marks based on the Continuous Assessment and Semester Examination Valuation in the ratio 25:75.
    The Continuous Internal Assessment includes the following divisions. Total 100 Marks b) The final exam for Part IV portion and the internals is in the ratio of 60:40 Continuous Internal Assessment consists of the following.
    One hour tests- 2 2x20= 40 Marks
    Three hour Model Test- 1 25 Marks
    Assignment/Seminar 25 Marks
    Attendance 10 Marks
    Internal Assessment Total 100 Marks
    Internal Assessment Marks Reduce to 25 Marks
    Internal Marks : 25 + External Marks : 75 Toal : 100 Marks
  • The final exam for Part IV portion and the internals is in the ratio of 60:40
    Continuous Internal Assessment consists of the following.
    Seminar 20
    Assignment 10
    Viva voce 10
    Total 40
Note: It is compulsory for all the students to attend the CIA. Only those students who have attended all the CIA’s are eligible to receive the awards.
 
Re-exam :

Third year students who have written their final exam in the month of April but have arrear in only one paper, will be given permission to appear for re-exam.
